Diane De Roo

Okanagan based artist Diane has been honing her skills in botanical preservation since she was a young child pressing wildflowers in the prairies. She has since gone on to create a business based on botanical preservation, creating plaster relief tiles that capture the tiny details of each flower. She

Her floral art soon grew to include vegetables. She was the first to develop, through years of experimentation, a way to press real vegetable slices while maintaining their colour and shape. Her unique art form has expanded to include wall hangings, coasters and serving trays using preserved vegetables.

She grows all her botanicals organically.

Diane loves to work with clients to preserve keepsake florals, such as wedding bouquets. She also does large pieces, such as a 6 x 8 foot wall, commissioned by a New York architect, composed of 20 tiles that together create a magical garden scene.

Diane now combines her skills as a teacher with her art, and offers workshops on botanical preservation at her Kaleden studio.
